The Group of EMBA-19 spent the first module (so called Residential Week) at Kozminski University (Warsaw, Poland). During this week the participants got acquainted with the practical developments in the field of management used by Polish companies and peculiarities of the international business environment. They discussed a wide range of issues related to management communications, strategic negotiation and got professors’ recommendations regarding their final diploma work. That was a rewarding experience for the participants and we’d like to thank Kozminski University for that. Click here to see the photos

Aug 3, 2011 - Kozminski University has earned initial accreditation for its business program by recent action of the Board of Directors of AACSB International —The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
Founded in 1916, AACSB International is the longest serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees in business and accounting. Kozminski University joins an elite group of institutions that have achieved business accreditation from AACSB International. Only 633 schools of business, or less than 5% worldwide, have earned this distinguished hallmark of excellence in management education.

In August of 2009, Yuliya V Ivanova and her co-author Joan Winn were invited to Chicago to receive the most prestigious award in Management from the Public and Non-Profit Division of the Academy of Management. When Dr.Ivanova arrived to the ceremony on August 9, she found that her research was not only a winner of one division, but also a top-five finalist of the all-Academy contest. More than 8,000 research papers from 78 countries have been submitted for this contest in 2009.
The Carolyn Dexter Award is an all-Academy award given to the single paper that best meets the objective of internationalizing the Academy. The paper is rigorously evaluated by the sponsoring International Theme Committee using the following criteria:
1. Papers are considered for the Carolyn Dexter Award if they offer new insights, are rich in observation, and employ creative methodologies. Submissions are welcomed of topics or methods that are not in the U.S. mainstream, but are important in other countries' research traditions and are of excellent quality in accord with the criteria of these traditions.
2. The theme and content of the paper should reflect an awareness of business and management outside domestic boundaries;
3. Collaboration between scholars from different countries.
The research of Dr. Ivanova and Dr. Winn is titles “The Role of Social Capital and Donor Commitment in a Geographically Isolated Community”. The authors propose a causal output-input model of organizational actions that promote donor commitment through investigating donors’ active engagement versus passive support. The research justifies a role of organizational social capital in building donor commitment and support and provides specific recommendations to practicing managers of how invest to the organizational social capital and donor commitment.
